Dryer Vent Service
If you notice that your dryer is slow to dry your clothes, a clogged dryer vent exhaust is likely to blame. This may simply be a buildup of lint, but birds and small animals love to build nests in dryer vents, which then obstructs the ability to vent the lint outside. The dryer begins to work harder to do its job of evacuating lint and moisture, and can become overheated, then sparking a fire beneath the dryer that quickly spreads to the dryer vent, and a devastating home fire can then ensue.
Dryer lint is extremely flammable. In fact, clothes dryers cause many more home fires each year than chimney fires do. Cleaning the lint trap on your dryer is only part of the maintenance needed, but please remember to clean it with every load of clothes.
The venting method on your dryer can make a big difference in safety and performance as well. Plastic or vinyl pipe ARE NOT CODE COMPLIANT and should be replaced, as these weaker materials deteriorate quickly and are more easily crushed during installation, which reduces the venting capacity of the dryer vent. Never allow a dryer vent exhaust to terminate under the house or inside the attic space.
Some dryers are installed with very short runs of pipe that can be cleaned relatively easily by the homeowner, but complicated installations usually need special, professional style equipment. Often a poorly performing dryer vent is due to the venting configuration; we can replace your venting with a safer system installed for optimum performance.
We are highly trained, experienced and certified in dryer venting specifications and dryer vent cleaning methods. We use specialized gauges to measure air flow, pressure and vent temperature.
Upgrading your system
Older installations were not performed to today's higher safety standards. When we find problems like vinyl pipes and crushed venting, we can provide new components to solve specific problems, and we can also install a completely new venting system to offer maximum safety and optimum performance for your dryer.
We offer crush-resistant connectors, bird guards, covered louvers and even a booster fan system to solve venting problems on particularly difficult installations.
While we're checking your chimney, be sure to ask us to check your dryer vent, as well.
